During the past decade, proteomics has seen a surge of translational research assets raising hopes and expectations particularly in the field of medicine. In particular, the focus is increasingly laid upon protein biomarkers potentially relevant for disease prediction, diagnosis and therapy. However, the proteome complexity and scarcity of adequate informatics tools still poses a true challenge. The present talk intends to present several clinically relevant problems as well as the corresponding proteomics solutions which offer a true alley of opportunity for adequately tackling these.
