How to reach Liège (City centre)?

Liège is a thousand-year-old city with a historical centre and numerous monuments, churches and museums. Liège is located one hundred kilometres of Brussels.

By air The most convenient airport is Brussels National Airport (Zaventem). From there, train connections to Liège-Guillemins run at least twice every hour during most of the day (most via Leuven, some via Brussels-North). The train ride takes about 1:20h. If you prefer to rent a car, the most important car rental companies have an office in the Airport building near the exit of the luggage claim hall.
By train a lot of international trains are going to Liège (Guillemins station) (http://www.belrail.be/).
By road Liège is directly linked to the European motorway network through several motorways: from Brussels (E40), from Paris (E42), from Antwerp (E313), from Aachen (E40) or from Maastricht (E25).

How to reach the Sart-Tilman campus from Liège?

The Sart-Tilman campus (780 hectares) is located 7 kilometres south of Liège in a leafy setting.

By taxi A taxi from the city centre to the University campus will cost you approximately 10€. It takes approximately 15 minutes to reach the campus depending on traffic.
By bus From Liège Guillemins Station, you can take bus 48. It takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the campus depending on traffic. Get off at the stop point “Ateliers” (Institut Montefiore - Parking 32).
By car Follow direction to ‘Marche’ (N680) ; join N680 after 2km ; drive on N680 to ‘Marche’ for 3km ; at the end of the slope, at round-about, turn second right and continue N680 ; turn at the next right to ‘Université de Liège’ and at the round-about turn first right ; after 500m, turn right to parking P32.

How to reach Sart-Tilman campus by road ?

When you are approaching Liège, the best way to reach the University Campus is to follow the sign Université de Liège - SART TILMAN. There are other small campuses in other places and administrative buildings in city centre. So remember that the Institut d'Electricité Montefiore is located on the Sart Tilman campus.

From Brussels, Brussels Airport (Zaventem), Leuven : Freeway E40 to ‘Luik’ (=Liège) for about 80km ; at E40 x E42 junction in ‘Loncin’ follow ‘Namur’ (E42) for 3km ; exit n°2 onto A604 to ‘Seraing’; after 5km on A604 exit n°4 to ‘Liège-Jemeppe’, at traffic lights turn left to ‘Liège’ (N617) ; drive on N617 along the river ‘Meuse’ for 3km ; cross the river at ‘Pont d’Ougrée’ and continue on N63 to ‘Marche’; after 3km exit onto N680 to ‘Angleur, Sart-Tilman’ (270°-turn) ; after 500m turn right to ‘Université de Liège’ and at the round-about turn first right ; after 500m, turn right to parking P32.

From Maastricht (NL, 30km) : Freeway A2/E25 to ‘Luik’ (=Liège) ; when freeway ends follow ‘Ardennes driving along the river through Liège for 4km ; after the road crosses the river (90° left turn) turn right to ‘Marche’ (N680) ; join N680 after 2km (Esso gas station after the railway bridge) ; drive on N680 to ‘Marche’ for 3km ; at the end of the slope, at round-about, turn second right and continue N680 ; turn at the next right to ‘Université de Liège’ and at the round-about turn first right ; after 500m, turn right to parking P32.

From Aachen (D, 45km) : Freeway A44/540 to ‘Lüttich’ (=Liège) exit onto E25 to ‘Liège’ then same route as from Maastricht.

From Paris (400km), Valenciennes (150km), Mons (130km), Charleroi (100km), Namur (60km) : Freeway A2/E19/E42 to ‘Liège’, on E42 exit n°2 onto A604 to ‘Seraing’; after 5km on A604 exit n°4 to ‘Liège-Jemeppe’, at traffic lights turn left to ‘Liège’ (N617) ; drive on N617 along the river ‘Meuse’ for 3km ; cross the river at ‘Pont d’Ougrée’ and continue on N63 to ‘Marche’; after 3km exit onto N680 to ‘Angleur, Sart-Tilman’ (270°-turn) ; after 500m turn right to ‘Université de Liège’ and at the round-about turn first right ; after 500m, turn right to parking P32.

From Antwerp (130km), Hasselt (50km) : Freeway A13 to ‘Luik’ (=Liège) ; at E40 junction in ‘Vottem’ follow ‘Namur’ (E42) ; after E40 x E42 juction in ‘Loncin’ exit n°2 onto A604 to ‘Seraing’; after 5km on A604 exit n°4 to ‘Liège-Jemeppe’, at traffic lights turn left to ‘Liège’ (N617) ; drive on N617 along the river ‘Meuse’ for 3km ; cross the river at ‘Pont d’Ougrée’ and continue on N63 to ‘Marche’; after 3km exit onto N680 to ‘Angleur, Sart-Tilman’ (270°-turn) ; after 500m turn right to ‘Université de Liège’ and at the round-about turn first right ; after 500m, turn right to parking P32.

From Luxembourg and Ardennes : Freeway E25 to ‘Liège’, exit n°40 in ‘Embourg’, turn left onto the bridge to ‘CHU, Université de Liège’ ; turn left at traffic lights to ‘Tilff’ for 3km ; turn right to ‘CHU, Université de Liège’ ; at first round-about (‘CHU’) follow ‘Angleur, Parc scientifique’ ; straight to the next round-about and right to the fourth exit to ‘CHU‘ ; after 500m, turn right to parking P32.
